『夢』は大きく　『念い』は熱く

 私たちの会社のレベルはまだまだ低い。でも、世界を目指しています。必ず世界に通用する会社にしていきます。少年野球チームがメジャーリーグを目指しているに等しいのだから、練習をしなければ世界で通用する訳がありません。１日１回、１０回、１００回素振りをする。キャッチボールをする。方法はたくさんあります。チャンスはたくさんあります。やるかやらないかです。全て自分次第です。本気で世界を目指せば自然と行動ができるはずです。目標があれば努力をすることは当たり前です。どれだけ熱い思いを持って本気で行動ができる
かです。１日１回でも、１年やれば３６５回。１日１０回やれば３６５０回。やる人とやらない人ではこれだけ差が出ます。それをしっかり理解をし、１日１日を大切に過ごしてください。

The World

Business wise, JIT is still at a very low level. However, we are aiming at the world. We will, without fail, become a world-famous company. Little league baseball players aiming at one day joining the major leagues have no hope of becoming world famous if they do not practice. They practice their swing once, 10 times, 100 times a day. They play catch. There are many methods and many chances. Whether or not they do it is entirely up to them. If you truly are aimed at world fame, action will come naturally. If you have a goal, you will naturally work hard. How passionately and seriously can you work? If you [do something] once a day, in one year you will have done it 365 times. If it is 10 times a day, you will do it 3,650 times in one year. This is the difference between people who act and people who settle. Please understand this and make the most of every day.

　

　言いにくいことでも指摘をして頂ける人がいるというのは幸せなことです。どうでもいいと思えば、あえて何も言いません。相手のことを思うから、好きだからこそ厳しいことも言います。親も、家族も同じです。好きだからこそ、より人間として成長してほしくて、厳しいことも言います。私自身にも、ジットにも、そういう人がいてくれるということに本当に感謝しています。ありがとうございます。ヴァンフォーレのブースに来て頂いたお客様から手紙を頂いた日の、ほとんどの社員の日報に、「悔しい」「恥ずかしい」「申し訳ない」との言葉があり、「信用を回復するのに時間がかかるかもしれないけれど、この反省を行動で示していきます」との言葉がありました。この経験を無駄にはしないでください。お客様からの熱い思いをしっかり受け止め行動してください。「人は心」。すべて自分次第です。自分を変えることができるのは自分しかありません。私もこのことを胸に刻み、しっかり行動をしていきます。行動です。反省だけなら誰でもできます。しっかり行動で表してください。それがお客様に対する誠意です。今日のこの日感じたことを忘れずに行動をお願いします。

　思っているだけではわかりません。言わなければ誰にもわかりません。会議に出席していても、意見も言わず座っているだけでは何の意味もありません。時間とスペースの無駄です。しっかり自分の意見を周りに伝えることは大切なことです。何を言えばいいかわからないというのでは困ります。気になれば自然と意見が出るはずです。わからなければ、本を読んだり、まわりの人に聞いたりしてその会議の内容について勉強をします。座っているだけなら誰にでもできます。自分がなぜそこに同席をしているのか、しっかり自覚をし、行動をしてください。それがなければ成長はありません。改善はしていかないのです。



Only Action

No matter how difficult it is to say, it is a blessing to people to have things pointed out to them. If you think about how to say something, you will not say anything. It is because you are thinking about the other person and because you like him that you are strict with him. The same it true for parents and families. I am so grateful that we have such people at JIT. Thank you.

In response to the recent letter from a customer who visited our booth at the Ventforet stadium, many employees wrote in their daily reports that they were saddened, embarrassed, and sorry for what had happened. One person wrote that “although it will take time to regain the customer’s trust, [he] will show [his sincerity] through his actions.” Please do not waste this experience but rather listen carefully to the customer’s thoughts and act on them. People are the core. Everything in life is what you make of it and no one can change you but you. I will also write this in my heart as I go forward. Action. Anyone can reflect. Please show [this reflection] in your behavior. This is [what it means to] be sincere towards customers. Please do not forget this day as you go forward.

I cannot understand someone who only thinks. If you do not say anything, no one will understand you. There is no meaning in your attendance at a meeting if all you do is sit there without sharing your opinion. It is a waste of time and space. It is imporant to share your opinions with those around you. It’s frustrating when [people say] “I do not know what I should say.” Your opinions should naturally come out if you are paying attention. If you don’t understand [something], read a book, listen to those around you, and study about the topics of the meeting. Anyone can just sit there. Please think seriously about why you are at the meeting. If you don’t, you will not grow. Reform is mandatory.

　社員が子供を授かりました。また別の社員は待望の第一子が誕生しました。私も本当にうれしい。子供が生まれるということはそれだけ背負っていくものが大きくなります。金銭面でも大変になる。でもそれ以上に大きいものを与えてくれるのが素直な子供です。子供のため、奥さんのため、両親のため、背負っていくものが増えるほど、もっともっと頑張ろうという気持ちが湧いてきます。『生きがい』　『夢』　をあたえてくれます。子供が『命』の尊さを教えてくれ、『自分自身の生まれてきた証』を未来へ、子孫へ繋げてくれます。子供が大きくなったときに、「うちのお父さん、ジットで働いているんだよ、世の中の人を幸せする仕事をしているんだよ」と胸を張って言える会社を作っていきましょう。またそういう親でいてください。

　「わかった」と「行動」は全くぜんぜん違います。頭でわかっても、行動をしなければ意味がありません。いくら口で「わかりました」と言っても、行動をしなければ「わかった」と言いません。
　先日、新入社員の親御様へ入社式の写真をお送りいたしました。そのお礼のお手紙をある新入社員のお父様より頂きました。そこに、研修後、息子から電話があり「これからは思っているだけではなく、行動する」と言っていましたとありました。また、今までメールが返ってこなくて寂しかったけれど、その後すぐに返ってくるようになり、家族ともども喜んでいるとも書いてありました。新入社員も研修に行って様々なことに気づいてくれました。気づき、わかったので、行動をしてくれました。私はこの手紙を読んでとてもうれしく、感動しました。わかったとはこういうことです。
　『感動』は行動しなければ伝わりません。
　皆さんもわかったらすぐに行動で示してください。それが「わかった」ということです。返事だけではなく、今この場から直ぐ行動をしてください。

Once You Understand, Take Action

[Many of our] employees are blessed with children, including one man who recently celebrated the birth of his lost awaited son. I am so happy. The birth of a child dramatically increases the number of burdens you will bear, [not the least of which will be] financial issues. But bigger than any struggle is the present of an unprejudiced, obedient child. As his burdens increase, the man will feel a greater urge to work hard, not only for the sake of his child(ren) but also for his wife and parents. He will have dreams and a raison d’etre. Children will teach him the preciousnes of life and serve as evidence of the life he has lived. They will tie him to the future, to his descendants. Let us a create a company that these employee’s children can be proud of when they are adults. Let us create a company about which these children will say, “My father is an employee at JIT where he works to bring happiness to people around the world.” To the parents as well, be this kind of person: the kind your children can be proud of.

Comprehension and action are two completely different things. Even if you intellectually comprehend something, without action it is meaningless. No matter how many times you say, “I understand,” if you do not act [on it] do not say it.

The other day I sent the parents of our new employees pictures from the company entrance ceremony. I [soon] received a letter from the father of one of the new employees who said that after the week-long training course, his said told him that “from now on I will not only think but also act.” Moreover, in contrast to the son’s habit of not replying to e-mails from the family, his e-mail immediately after the course ended made his family very happy. All of the new employees came to realize various things throughout the course of the study camp and have acted on what they realized. I was very pleased and moved by this parent’s letter. This is what understanding is.

Without action, gratitude will not be communicated.

If you understand, please show it through immediate action for such is true understanding. Do not just answer but also act immediately.

　先週末の第３回の会社説明会の際、社員にも私の話を聞いてもらいました。話す内容はいつもほとんど変わりません。でも、感じることはその日、その日で違うと思います。ただ出席するだけではしない方がましです。みなさんはまだまだ若い。経験も少ないだから多くの先輩、周りの方の話しを聞いて勉強することで大きく成長をします。３カ月前、４ヵ月前と今日この日では感じ方も、考え方も違うのです。同じ話しだと思って集中していない人は普段から、何も考えずにただその時を過ごしているだけです。偶然はありません。２４時間はみな一緒です。このチャンスを自分のものにできるか、できないかは自分次第です。様々な人の話を聞くこと、本を読むことなど、自分のまわりにはたくさん気づく機会があります。それにどれだけ気づき行動できるかです。しっかり行動してください。　人は鏡です。毎日成長しているのだから同じ話を聴いても『心』感じ方は毎回ちがいます。

　先日、ある方からお手紙を頂きました。ヴァンフォーレ甲府の試合の際に、何回もブースへ足をお運び頂いたお客様からでした。弊社の不手際から何回も足をお運び頂いたにも関わらず商品をお渡しをできませんでした。本当に申し訳ございません。
　またジットグループの人が運転中にマナー違反をしていたとも指摘いただきました。日本に居る以上必ず日本国憲法を守り、ジットに勤務している以上ジットグループの一員は必ずジットの理念に反しない行動することはあたり前のことです。まずは自分の行動を見直し『ライバルは自分自身』を心にチームジット全員が実行していきます。本当に有難うございます。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
　報告、連絡の不徹底、なによりも「人は心」の精神の欠如が原因です。私もこのブログでも「人は心」と言っています。弊社のロゴにも「人は心」と入れています。それにも関わらずこのようなことでは本当に恥ずかしい。このお客様より最後に、「私はジットグループが好きだから、あえてこのような言いにくいことを報告をしました。絶対に山梨１、日本１の企業になって山梨を元気にする夢をかなえてください。私たちも応援しています。」とお書きく頂きました。このようなことが起きたのに、あえてご指摘いただき、このようなお言葉を頂戴し、本当に頭が下がります。感謝の一言です。私たちには商品を買ってくださる、ジットのファンと言ってくださるお客様がいます。そのことを忘れないでください。感謝の気持ちがあればこのようなことは起きるはずがありません。もう一度、しっかり胸に刻んでください。「人は心」その言葉に恥じない行動をいたします。全ての問題は自分自身です。私自身が　『謙虚な気持ちで自分自身を見直し行動していきます』有難うございました。

　

Gratefulness

Last week we held our 3rd company information session [of the year], at which JIT employees were also present. The structure and contents of my talks rarely change; however, the feelings [both those behind and those engendered by my words] are dependent on the day I speak. I hope people do more than simply sit there during my talks. Everyone is still very young and has little experience; therefore, they mature a lot by watching and listening to those around them. Your way of thinking and feeling is different today that it was three or four months ago. Most people when they here a story they have heard before will zone out, mindlessly passing the time without concentrating on what is being said. There are no coincidences in life. Everyone [is limited] to 24 hours in a day. When an opportunity presents itself, it is your choice whether or not you will be successful at it. All around you – whether in the stories you hear, the books you read, or the people you meet – are opportunites to realize something [new]. How much will you notice and be able to act? Please be firm in your actions. People are mirrors. Because you are constantly growing and maturing, your reactions to the same story will be different every time you hear it.

Letter from a Customer
The other day, we received a letter from a customer who had come countless times to our booth at the Ventforet soccer games. Due to our own ineptitude, we were unable to give this customer the products he wanted, despite the fact that he came to see us so many times. We are so very, very sorry.

This same customer also alerted me to the breech of manners he witnessed in one of our employees while the latter was driving. It is natural [to expect] JIT employees to follow and protect not only our company creeds but the Japanese constitution as well. Team JIT will take a good look at ourselves and go forward with the understanding that our [strongest] rival is ourselves.

The origin of the [recent] lack in a “people first” mindset is in incomplete reports and messages. Not only is it our logo but I frequently say this phrase – “people are everything” – in this blog. Despite this [overwhelming prevalence of the phrase],such problems [as the above] still occur. This is embarrassing. The aforementioned customer wrote at the end of his letter, “It is because I like JIT that I said these difficult things. Please [do everything you can to] realize your dream of energizing Yamanashi and all of Japan, of making them number one [in the world]. I will be cheering for you.” I bow my head [in tremendous gratitude] to this customer who, despite enduring the problems he did, nevertheless sent us such a letter. Thank you. Please do not forget these customers who buy our products and declare themselves our fans. If you are thankful, such problems should not occur. Please carve this in your heart. Act boldly with the belief that people are the heart of things. All situations are what you make of them. I will humbly look at myself and correct my own actions. Thank you.

　弊社も２０１０年度の入社に向けて採用活動をしています。どこの企業の話を聞いても採用がないほど厳しい状況です。人は宝、人が全て、今年は１５人の新入社員でしたが来年は今年以上の採用を考えています。弊社はこんな時期だからこそ優秀な人材を採用していきたい。『素直で積極的な心の人』そのような考えで採用活動を進めていますが、弊社も厳しい状況というのは他と変わりありません。ですから入社したら、４月は研修生として働くのではなく、４月から即戦力として動いてほしい。そのために、内々定が決まった時点から様々な課題、研修を行い、４月にはスタートダッシュを切れるようなシステムを作りました。今はそういう時代です。もちろん社員にも同じ条件を同じようにやってもらいます。社員ができないことをやって頂くわけにはいきません。これは誰のためでもない、自分のための課題です。少しでも社会人として、一人の人間として成長してもらいたいために行います。やらされているという意識では困ります。しっかり自分のために、行動をするようにお願いします。

　

 本日は来年度に向け第三回目の会社説明会があり、77人の学生さんの参加がありました。社員の皆さんも80人あまりの参加もありたいへんにぎやかで嬉しかったです。弊社の会社案内は90分私が『なぜジットを設立したか！なぜジットセレモニーを設立したか！』の想いと　私が経験、体験したことを学生達に聞いていただき、少しでも就職活動今後の人生にプラス、　そして『誰でもやればできること』　行動すること、一歩踏み出す勇気を全力投球で話をさせていただいてます。　そして残りの３０分強で学生さんたち全員に感想、意見質問をいただき素直な意見を聞き今後の活動の参考にしています。

　毎回アンケート、感想発表では、弊社の社員の明るい元気な挨拶の出迎えに学生さん達は感動し、社長自身が会社を設立した想い、夢に感動していただいています。2時間という時間内ですので会社の内容、細かい説明は1次面接以降で人事担当が話をしています。まずは『ジットを知ってほしい』　『社員を見てほしい』　です。

　数年前は２～３人の学生さんの参加でしたが　人事担当社員の県内、県外の学校周り、ガイダンスへの積極参加のおかげです。有難うございます。学生の中には人事の人の熱い想いが、輝いている目が素敵で会社説明会に参加してくれた人もたくさんいます。本当に嬉しいです。毎年５回　今年は後５月２９日、９月１９日　２回会社説明会をジット甲府プラザで行います、一人でも多くの人にジットを知ってもらいたい、

弊社の社員を見て、診て,観てください。年齢は関係ありません。『熱い想い』を伝え山梨を日本を元気にしたいです。





Before the Decision

At JIT we are currently accepting applications from those looking to start work in 2010. This current [economic] situation is very bleak and you hear stories of companies everywhere no longer accepting applicants. [However, at JIT] people are treasures, they are everything [to us], and we are hoping to hire even more people than we did this year. Specifically in a time such as this, we are hoping for talented, superior candidates. Although we continue to hire people – focusing on those with “unprejudiced, positive hearts” – JIT is no different from other [companies] in terms of this grave [economic] situation. Therefore, rather than spending the first month studying, I want employees to be ready to work from day one. In order for this to happen, I created a “Start Dash” system of various themes and courses that begins once you have made your decision [to join JIT]. This is such a time. Of course, the employees will place on me the same conditions [that I place on them]. I will not receive from employees what they cannot do. This is not a challenge for others but for myself. I hope that employees grow as members of society and as humans in general. That is why I do this. It is frustrating [when employees say they are] made to do something. Act for yourself.

Today nearly 80 college students attended our 3rd company information session of the year. With roughly 80 employees there as well, it was loud and merry. During the 90-minute presentation, I talked about my experiences and how they related to why JIT and JIT ceremony were founded. I spoke with all my heart and soul about positive thinking and being courageous and going forward, even if only a small step at a time. Following my speech, we spent a little over half an hour listening to the frank thoughts and questions from the college students who were there.

In their responses after every info session, students mention being moved by JIT employees’ cheerful greetings and the emotions and thoughts that prompted me to found JIT. Because we only had two hours, information about the company in particular will have to wait until the interviews with the head of personnel. First, though, I wanted them to get to know JIT and to see our employees.

Years ago we only had 2 or 3 students attend our information sessions but thanks to the efforts of the head of our personnel department [our numbers have increased to what we saw today]. Thank you, Mr. AMIKURA. I was so happy to see the spark of passion in students’ eyes.

We have five info sessions every year with the remaining to be held at JIT’s Kofu Plaza on May 29th and September 19th. I hope that no matter what their age, people will come and observe our employees.

I hope to communicate my passionate feelings and [in doing so] enliven Yamanashi and all of Japan.

　先日、ＷＢＣで日本が優勝をしました。なぜ勝てたか。チームが一丸となって勝利という目標に向かって立ち向かったからです。１人でも気持がずれている人がいたのならば優勝はなかったと思います。それがチームです。チームが一丸となれば必ず実は結びます。今このような時期だからこそ、チームジットで気持をひとつにしなければこの難局は乗り越えられません。それを理解してください。心から納得をして、気持をひとつに、チームジットで前進していきましょう。

　いつでも、どこでも、誰に対しても感謝の気持ちを忘れずにいてください。今ここに生かされていること、仕事ができること、家族がいること、仲間がいること、ジットの商品を買ってくださるお客様がいることを忘れないでください。人は９個の幸せを感じても、１つの問題や嫌なことがあるとどうしてもその悪い方に目がいきがちです。でも、それでは自分も、まわりも不幸になるだけです。１つの問題があっても９個の幸せなことを思し、感謝をすれば必ずその問題も乗り越えられます。壁は乗り越えただけ強くもなれるし、成長もできます。感謝の気持ちを忘れずに、前向きに行動してください。

En Masse

Japan was victorious at the recent World Baseball Championship. This victory was the result of the entire team banning together as one under a shared goal to be the WBC champions. I believe that had the feelings and opinions of even just one person on the team been different, Japan would not have won. This is a team. If a team can ban together as one, they will surely be successful. Particularly in such a time as this, if everyone in Team JIT does not share the same opinion, we will not be able to ride out the current crisis. Please understand this. Let us consent [to other's opinions] from our hearts and, with one mind, go forward.

No matter when or where you are are who you meet, please do not forget to be grateful that you are alive, that you can work, that you have a family and friends, and that there are customers buying JIT products. Even if there are 9 good things in our lives, if one bad thing appears, it is that one negative on which we will focus. However, this only leads to suffering for you and those around you. If something bad happens, just remember that there are still 9 good things [for if you can do so] and have a grateful heart, you will surely be able to overcome the hardship. In simply overcoming the problem, you will be stronger and will be able to grow as a person. Do not forget to be thankful as you go forward in life.

　「僕はこう思ったので、これから行動します」と口で言うことなら誰にでもできます。２・３日の間だけ実行することも大抵の人ならできます。でも、継続することは大変なことです。どんなことがあっても継続しなければ意味がありません。３日坊主では困ります。変えるということは大変なことです。変わりたくないという自分と変わりたいという自分との戦いです。楽な方へ進むことは簡単です。苦しい険しい道こそ逃げずに進んでください。それが成長です。行動あるのみです。

　心と体の健康のため、徒歩で出社しています。月に２度社員が会社の周辺掃除を行っていますが、まだまだ沢山のごみが落ちています。会社の周りの花壇にも雑草が生えています。また、先日工場の裏の部分の見えないところの掃除がいき届いていないことがわかりました。少しずつ清掃をして大分綺麗になりました。でもまだまだです。１番汚れ易いところこそ１番綺麗に保ちたい。逆転の発想です。どうしたらよいか皆さんからも提案をください。みんなで、より良い環境を作っていきましょう。

　先日、社員が運転中に携帯電話を使用していて捕まりました。その上いつも乗っている車が故障しました。これは偶然ではありません。必然です。普段から気をつけて、愛情を持っていないからこういうことになってしまいます。これは何かのサインです。問題が起こるということは必ず原因があります。物を大切にする人は人も大切にできます。食べ物の好き嫌いがある人は、人の好き嫌いがあります。しっかり謙虚に受け止めて自分自身を変え、同じ失敗をしないように、行動してください。




What Doesn’t Kill You Only Makes You Stronger

Anyone who says “This is what I thought so this is how I am going to act” can do [whatever they put their mind to]. If the action only lasts for two or three days, ordinary people can do it. However, it is very difficult to perservere [for an extended period of time]. No matter what happens, if you do not persevere there is no meaning in your action. Quitting after the third day is embarrassing. Change is difficult: it is a struggle between the part of you that wants to change and the part that doesn’t. It is easy to continue on the easy path [but] please do not run away from the steep and difficult path for therein lies [opportunity for] growth. There is only action.

In order to better care for the health of my heart and body, [I recently began] walking to the office. Although our employees take two days a month to clean the area around our company holdings, there is still a tremendous amount of garbage littering the area. [Similarly,] the flower beds around our offices are infested with weeds and cleaning of the area behind our factory is still sporadic. Although these areas are slowly getting cleaner, we still have a long way to go. It is my hope that the dirtiest area now will be the most clean and beautiful area in the future for this will be an expression of the change. I would like to hear everyone’s opinions on what we should do. Let us work together to create a better environment.

The other day, one of our employees was caught talking on his cell phone while driving. Furthermore, the car he usually drives broke down. Neither of these things happened by chance. These things happen because of a lack of care and love on a daily basis. All problems that occur have causes. People who care for objects will also be able to care for people. People who are picky about food are picky about people as well. Please be humble and change yourself and work to not repeat the same mistakes.

　先日、会葬に行った際に「人は心」だと改めて感じました。結婚披露宴は、主催者側が招待をして行われますが、葬儀に招待状はありません。「人」が「人」を想い、偲び、『感謝の気持ち』で自ら会葬に出掛けていくものです。
　この度の葬儀は千人以上の会葬があり、故人と、その家族方々の人間性を垣間見た気がします。人は亡くなった時にその人の「生きた証」が見えます。喪主様とは、今は亡きお父様の代からお付き合いがあります。とても、人望があり、勇気がある、素晴しいお父様で、事あるごとに何かと私にお声をかけてくださいました。また、お父様の三千人規模の葬儀も、弊社で挙げていただきました。この度は、喪主様のお母様の葬儀でしたが、ご主人が亡くなりしばらく経つにも関わらず、本当にたくさんの方々が会葬に訪れ、「人の心」に触れた貴重な時間でした。『人はみんな義理固い、情があるんだ』と嬉しくなりました。『人情』『人は心』ですね。　

　ジットの総務部社員に、勉強の為に会葬案内をしてもらいました。彼女は、葬儀の中で一人浮いていました。会葬に訪れた方々へのお礼のお辞儀も、彼女だけが浅かったのです。セレモニースタッフは、喪主様と一緒に故人と会葬者の心を繋ぎます。ですから自然とご親族と同じ気持ちになります。そうなれば、葬儀中の振る舞いも感謝の気持ちが溢れます。セレモニースタッフとして葬儀に立ち会った事で、彼女はひとつ勉強しました。　冠婚葬祭、どんな時でも『感謝の心』をもつことです。『感謝の心』がなければ想いは伝わりません。　人は心　感謝の心は一番大切です。　

「人は心」です。ジットグループは心で商品、サービスを創造する会社です。全ての事に心ある行動をお願いします。見えない心が見える行動に表れます。

People are the Core 

The other day I attended a funeral ceremony and felt once again that “people are the core.” In the case of a wedding reception, the host will send out invitations for the event; a funeral, however, has no invitation. Rather, the attendees think of the deceased and, with a feeling of gratitude [toward the deceased], voluntarily attend.

This particular funeral witnessed the presence of over one thousand guests and those in attendance could see the humanity that had been present in the deceased as well as was present in his family. It is when a person dies that you can see the proof of his existence. The chief mourners at this funeral came from the deceased father’s generation and told me what a popular, brave, and wonderful man the deceased had been.

We have already mentioned the funeral at which over 3,000 guests were in attendance. Despite the fact that the deceased’s husband had been dead for quite a while, many of his aquaintances also attended her funeral.  It was a truly moving, precious time and I was happy to see the strong sense of duty in those present.  This truly is [an example of] humanity and [the idea of] “people [as] the core.”

[Recently,] one of our general affairs employees studied funeral guidance.  During the course of the funeral, she became separated [from the other Ceremony staff] and her bow to the guests was rather shallow.  Ceremony staff connect the hearts of everyone present – whether the chief mourners, the family, or the deceased – and therefore must naturally feel a sense of kinship with them.  If they can do this, a sense of gratitude will overflow.  This employee studied one aspect of [what it means to be] a Ceremony employee at a funeral.  No matter what the occasion, it is important to have a grateful heart.  If you don’t, your feelings and thoughts will not be communicated.  The most important thing is [to remember that] people are the core and to have a grateful heart.

People are the core.  At JIT we create our products and services from the heart.  Please put your heart and soul into everything you do for it is through visible action that the invisible heart is shown.

　週末南アルプス桃源郷マラソン大会へ参加し、私を含め社員全員が５ｋｍを完走しました。中には走りきれるか心配だった人、できないと思っていた人も正直いました。でも本当にみんな一生懸命に走りきり、完走できました。その姿に本当に感動をしました。走る前は、「できない。」「走りきれるか心配。」と弱音を吐く社員も多くいました。でも、実際その場に立ち、やるしかなくなる状況になれば皆できるのです。走る前に考えても仕方ありません。行動しかないのです。みんなそれをみんな実際に経験して気づいてくれたと思います。マラソンは自分との戦いです。歩くのも、走り続けるのも、すべて自分次第です。この気持ちを忘れず、日々の生活に生かしてください。『わかった』と『行動する』では全く違います。やれば、行動すれば必ず何事も達成できます。セレモニーの社員の皆さん、仕事が重なり参加できず本当に残念でした。私たちが参加中も仕事をしていただいています。感謝、感謝です。

　東京支社、大阪営業所、福岡営業所、名古屋営業所を含め、営業全員が本社に集まりました。この不況の中、弊社も非常に厳しい状況にあります。会社を支えているのは営業です。営業が一番です。営業がものを売って、社員を、家族を、世の中の人々を幸せにできます。営業が商品を売らなければ何も始りません。そのことを営業さん全員に伝えました。営業が営業に全力投球ができるように、本社の残っているメンバーが全力でフォローをします。営業がいうことは絶対に実行します。だからその期待を背に行動してください。考えるのではなく、行動をしてください。失敗してもかまいません。私が責任をとります。悩む暇はありません。行動あるのみです。営業が外で汗を流して頑張ってくれています。全員が一歩前進。

You Can Do it if You Try

This weekend, all JIT full-time employees participated in the Minami Alps Marathon’s 5K. In our group were people who were worried they could not run or even complete the 5K at all. Despite these fears, however, everyone gave their all and completed the race. I was very moved. Before we ran, many whined that they could not do the race and that they were worried they couldn’t run. But with no choice but to do it, they did manage to complete the 5K. There is no meaning in thinking before the race. All that matters is action, a fact that I think everyone realized during the course of the 5K. A marathon is a fight against oneself. The choice of whether to walk or keep running is entirely up to you. Please remember this as you go through your days. The replies “I understand” and “I will act” are completely different. If you try, if you act, you will surely accomplish something. It is truly a shame that JIT Ceremony employees had to work and therefore were unable to participate [but] I am grateful that even those of us who participated in the 5K were able to work. I am very grateful.

The other day, our entire sales department – from the Tokyo branch to the Osaka, Fukuoka, and Nagoya brances – all gathered at our headquarters [here in Yamanashi]. In this time of recession, our company has become exceedingly strict and rigid. It is our sales team that supports the company. They are number one at JIT. When they sell our products, they make JIT employees and their families, as well as people around the world, happy. If they are unable to sell our products, nothing new can begin. This is what I told our sales department. In order for our sales department to be able to work as hard as they can, the rest of us here at headquarters will back with all our might. What the sales staff says will unconditionally be put into practice. Therefore, do not think but instead just act. It does not matter if you fail: I will take responsibility for it. There is no time for worrying. It is all for action. While our sales staff is out putting their sweat and blood into making sales for us, let all of us go forward together.

　私たちは、作った商品を使ってもらって初めて社会に貢献することができます。いくら良いものを作っても、いくら人が良くても、使ってもらわなければ何の意味もありません。何のために、商品を作っているのですか？ジットの使命はなんですか？

　昨日また倒産してしまった企業があることをニュースで拝見しました。数年前までは本当に利益も出て、好調な会社でも、一瞬先は闇なのです。今は会社を存続することさえも大変な時代です。ジットだから大丈夫ということは決してありません。もっともっと一人一人が危機感を持って、必至にやらなければ会社は存続できません。それをしっかり認識してください。もっと危機感を感じてください。余裕などないはずです。目標を達成できないということは社会に貢献ができないし、自分、家族も幸せになれません。逆に目標を達成するということは、多くの人に幸せを感じて頂けると同時に、自分も家族も幸せになれるのです。日々危機感を持って、行動してください。

Sense of Crisis

We [here at JIT] can contribute to society through the products that we make that people use. No matter how good are products or employees are, there is no meaning to them if no one buys our products. What are we producing these cartridges for? What is our mission here at JIT?

According to yesterday’s news, yet another business has declared bankruptcy. Despite years of profits, this promising company will soon fade away. We are in a time when simply surviving is difficult for companies. We cannot say that just because we are JIT we will be fine. We must each carry a greater sense of crisis for if we don’t, we will inevitably collapse. Please understand this and feel a greater sense of the crisis [we are facing]. We should not expect a surplus. An inability to achieve our goals is an inability to contribute to society or to bring happiness to either ourselves or our families. Conversely, the achievement of our goals will bring happiness to many people, including ourselves and our families. [Therefore,] please feel this sense of crisis everyday and act [accordingly].
